Terms of Service
Last updated: April 18, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Jobsmith (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update these terms; continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
2. Description of Service
Jobsmith is an AI-powered tool that helps you create tailored job application documents — including resumes, cover letters, and interview preparation guides — based on your background and a job description you provide. Documents are generated using the Anthropic Claude API.
3. Account Registration
You must provide a valid email address to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@jobsmith.work if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Free Tier and Paid Plans
- Free trial — new accounts receive a 7-day free trial with full access to all features. A valid payment method is required to start the trial. If you cancel during the trial, access is revoked immediately.
- Pro subscription — $15/month after the trial ends, billed monthly via Stripe. Includes unlimited document generations.
- Billing — subscriptions renew automatically on your monthly billing date. You may cancel at any time through Account Settings via the Stripe billing portal. Cancellation of an active (non-trial) subscription takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — contact us within 7 days of a charge if you believe there is an error.
5. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
Documents generated by Jobsmith are produced by an AI model. While we design our system to produce accurate, grounded output based on the information you provide, you are responsible for reviewing all generated content before submitting it to any employer. We make no guarantee that generated documents are error-free, complete, or appropriate for any specific role or employer. Do not submit content you have not reviewed. Do not represent AI-generated text as purely your own original writing if disclosure is required.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Submit false or fabricated information (e.g., degrees, employers, or credentials you do not hold).
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract data from the Service.
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits or access controls.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
- Upload content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights.
7. Your Content
You retain ownership of the documents you upload and the content you provide. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process and store your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. We do not use your content to train AI models or share it with third parties beyond what is necessary to operate the Service (see our Privacy Policy).
8. Intellectual Property
The Jobsmith name, logo, and application code are owned by us. The generated documents you download are yours to use. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of our underlying technology or brand to you.
9. Availability and Changes
We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We will provide reasonable notice before discontinuing the Service entirely.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Jobsmith and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to lost job opportunities, errors in generated documents, or service downtime. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Termination
You may delete your account at any time through Account Settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of King County, Washington.
